This Year's Beneficiaries
Moveable Feast approaches food as medicine: by eating right, men and women homebound with severe illnesses can strengthen their bodies and better fight their diseases. Founded in the midst of the AIDS crisis in 1989, Moveable Feast initially provided home-delivered hot meals to a small number of men living in Baltimore City with HIV/AIDS. During the past 22 years in the community, the non-profit expanded to include medical transportation, culinary training, nutritional counseling and food services for those facing life-threatening illnesses beyond HIV, such as breast cancer, blood cancer and chronic homelessness. Moveable Feast cultivates community involvement on every level of operation in order to FEED people, FIGHT disease, and FOSTER hope among thousands of Marylanders who are seriously ill.
